Railway transport is an important mode of transport across the globe. Rail operation includes both passenger & freight trains. It generally poses a significant challenge for railway operators and planners to operate passenger and freight trains using the same track. This process tends to be more difficult when the section is a single single-track section like that of the Katihar Junction - Raiganj section. This can lead to delays and under underutilization of the rail network. It is important to identify the problems in the network with various "Key Performance Index” and to find the solution of the respective problems.
